Tips for erecting a watertight shotcrete foundation wall

Waterproofing structural below-grade walls constructed of shotcrete presents unique challenges to waterproofing contractors, especially for blindside applications. The force and weight of shotcrete demands proper substrate preparation because repairing the membrane after the fact is an expensive - and often impossible - option.

The sequencing and coordination with the General Contractor, Waterproofing contractor, Shotcrete contractor and other relevant trades is critical for blindside waterproofing on shotcrete foundation walls. Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing provides some key discussion topics to cover during pre-construction meetings among these various players.

Go here to learn about best practices for membrane detailing and penetrations, as well as shotcrete design, placement, nozzleman certification and finishing
