When is NFPA 285 Required?

The answer to this question is discovered by answering additional questions and is determined by the enforced version of the International Building Code (IBC).

The IBC 2012 retains all of the same the requirements for NFPA 285 as previous versions with an additional caveat that includes wall assemblies that contain a combustible water resistive barrier.

Go here to see requirements for both versions.

Contact the air and vapor barrier experts at Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing for project specific questions, details and applications guidance. They may be reached at 888-229-2199 or [email protected] .
